Hi Julian, incredible game you've got here and I've just barely scratched the surface.
I have a suggestion to make if that's alright as a blind player. It's awesome that a screen reader can read aloud each square when in the look around mode with 'x', but it can become tedious when you have to examine each and every square before making a move and it can be difficult to remember where everything is. A suggestion I would have would be if you could have an option to have the game tell you how far away from the character the look cursor is. Example: I press 'x' and move the cursor 5 squares to the left and 3 squares up, the game could say "5 East 3 North", that way I could more easily map where monsters and items are relative to my character. Another suggestion would be to have a menu pop up, telling you what's around and how far away it is, or maybe make it so the tab key could cycle through monsters and items in LOS, reporting there distances. I don't know how hard this would be for you to implement, but it would sure be awesome.
There are so many roguelikes that I will never be able to play as a blind user and this one is already more accessible than 95% of the ones I've tried, so thank you so much for that. Just a couple of tiny things, and this could become the greatest game I've ever played. Amazing work man, keep it up.
