I bought Caves of Qud nearly three years ago and got into it a couple times since then but never made it too far. I enjoyed playing it, but I think I felt guilty about playing a game that I knew would suck up so much of my time when I was working toward a degree. I've since finished school, and when I saw the announcement that the game was getting a full release next year, I decided to give it another go.

I've been hooked on it for the most of the past week, and decided to try playing with a controller after a couple days. I'm shocked at how well a complicated old-school game like this works with a controller. The control scheme is very well-thought-out and I've only changed a few button assignments to better suit my preferences.

All this is to say that I would be ecstatic if Caves of Qud was released on Switch (and other consoles) some day. I don't have any actual expectations of that because I realize the game is being developed by a small team and the effort needed to port a game to consoles is nothing to scoff at. I don't know if Kitfox coming on board as a publisher affects the feasibility or consideration of a console port. But if the devs read these posts, it couldn't hurt to show that there's support for a console release.

There are not enough buttons lmao.

Well that's just not true. The game already has full controller support and it works great. I've been using my Xbox controller to play lately and I don't have to touch the mouse or keyboard unless I need to type something (which is rare), but consoles have onscreen keyboards so that's not an issue.

ive been playing this game on my phone over moonlight with an xbox controller and a 3d printed controller clip that holds the phone. works really well and being able to play it anywhere really makes the game better.
