I got this error when updating.

"An error occurred during installation sniffing pool entry: while getting read seeker for pool entry [file path] Operation did not complete successfully because the file contains a virus or potentially unwanted software

What exactly is giving this error? Is it the itch app, your web browser, anti-virus, or other?

I do not know exactly, i was updating it through the Itch app.

Developer

Oh okay, I'm not sure if the updates work directly through the app yet

Currently the updates are uploaded as new files, rather than updates to 1 existing file, so I figure that may throw something off app-wise. This was for various reasons, but lately I am looking into integrating with the itch app, and hopefully have that integration ready by the next update.

Until then, I recommend trying to download directly from the browser and please let me know if the same issue occurs that way.

I've also picked up some malware through the itch app, might be worthwhile to disable itch app integration if that's something you can do. Apparently there's some sort of vulnerability in that process.

Windows found a trojan in that install file according to my computer.

Some antivirus programs may flag Artifact or any other apps made with NW.js. If you receive a false positive, please let me know the anti-virus you are using so I can get in touch with them.

Straight up Windows defender antivirus.

Developer

Thank you, I have submitted it for review by Microsoft and hoping this can be fixed soon.

In the meantime, you can allow an exception for Artifact through the antivirus (or, for anyone who may be skeptical, the HTML file shouldn't have this issue).
