No scanlines in tate mode?

There's no scanlines in tate mode, you can turn them on, but it doesn't apply the scanline filter when the game is in tate mode.

Can this be fixed?

Developer

Yes it can. Tate mode was made for playing on a real CRT but I can turn it on. Should still look ok but it's running at 640x480 in that mode so it'll display on a CRT arcade monitor properly!

I'll have to look into that. Admittedly I'm using a 1080p 144hz flat panel, so maybe it might be an issue with resolution and my monitor stretching out the play window in tate mode.

OK, I doubted my monitor, but I then remembered the Alt+Enter combo to switch between windowed and full screen mode. I tried it out again, and scanlines still don't work in tate mode for some reason.

Developer

I have to enable them for tate mode. Tate mode was made with a real CRT in mind. It has to be an added option. But I have to do it for the switch version anyhow so I'll be added in this week :)

I've added scanlines to tate mode for pc. You can switch between CRT mode and regular mode my pressing a button while on tate mode - there is a prompt on the screen. CRT Mode being  on will shut the scanlines off when in tate mode. It won't effect regular mode though.

This wont be in the demo right away but it will be in the regular build. I'm currently coding the Leaderboard name entry for online leaderboards so once that's done the update will be tested a bit more then it will go live! Hopefully before the end of this week.

Scanlines in Tate mode are in the latest build of the full game!

Awesome!

I did notice that the screen rotation is now the other way round this time, but good thing I have a monitor arm that can turn in both directions, as my previous monitor only turns one direction at 90 degrees.

Developer

Yup - apparently the "preferred" way for Switch so I just set it to that. I may have also set CRT to do the same thing but I've already forgotten.
Let me know how it feels! I think I got the screen ration right but none of my monitors rotate so I was going by the small Switch screen :(

Now I remember that I own a Flip Grip, and I need to remember which way you turn the Switch in order for it to fit into the Flip Grip. I need to go find it and find out.
