Here we'll post some useful guides for doing things, and workarounds for known issues.

Running the Mac Version

The Mac version of Mannequin is currently unsigned (because I don't have the money to pay that $99 Developer Program subscription fee), so you'll need to disable Gatekeeper in order to run Mannequin in your Mac.

I'm quite sure there's nothing wrong with the app, but I should remind you that disabling Gatekeeper increases the security risk of your Mac. Please do this with care, and remember to re-activate Gatekeeper again after running Mannequin for the first time. Or, just wait for the signed version if you have the patience (hopefully it will be available around September-October).

Step-by-step:

  1. Navigate to System Preferences from the Apple Menu or from the Dock.
  2. Click on the Security & Privacy preference pane, under the Personal header.
  3. In the Security & Privacy pane, click on the Lock icon on the bottom-left.
  4. Enter your Mac's username and password and click Unlock.
  5. Click the radio button next to Anywhere.
  6. When prompted, click Allow From Anywhere. You can now install any compatible application on your Mac without the installation being blocked.
  7. Run Mannequin.
  8. IMPORTANT: After running Mannequin, follow the above instructions until step 5, and click the radio button next to Mac App Store and identified developers. Then close the System Preferences window. This wil re-enable Gatekeeper in order to restore protection from unwanted apps running on your Mac.

What is the difference between Mannequin and Mannequin Nightly?

Developer

The nightly builds are updated more often with in-progress stuff, so you get to try new things first; but as a side effect, the stability might be not the best.

Thanks, I wondered if that might be the case

Hello there. I've been using the Lite version on my Windows desktop, and I noticed the performance of the software is actually bad - Every single change takes around 20-30 seconds. I've already tweaked the performance settings, with no significant improvement. My computer has an Intel i3 processor, and 4GB of RAM. Is there anything I could to to make it run smoother? I really love how complex the software seems, and I'd love to be able to use it faster.
Thanks in advance.

Hello! We're really sorry but unfortunately for now the only known way to optimize Mannequin's performance is only by enabling the 'Caching' option and setting the 'Render Processes' in the 'Performance Tweaks' section to match your current processor's thread count. We do take note about the complaints regarding performance however, and understood that the demand for a significantly faster process is high. We'll try to implement further optimizations in the upcoming versions. Thank you very much for your feedback!

Hi, so this application is very unstable on my system, I have reinstalled it a few times but it is persistent. It often crashes when attempting to start up, loading a file or randomly when using it. And ALWAYS when trying to export a file.
It also leaves half a dozen or more active processess that bogs down my system until I force-quit them through task manager.
I am however, unlike most users, using windows 7. Is it that Mannequin just don't play well with my operating system or something else that is making it unusable for me?

Developer

Hello! Sorry for your problem. To be honest we are not sure because we have not tested Mannequin in a windows 7 machine at all, and the problem you are describing is the first one reported. We'll try to find out more info regarding this behavior first. Thank you for your report!

Update: I tried  running Mannequin on my secondary win 7-machine and it worked perfectly fine without  any crashes. Guess it just doesn't like my main system for whatever reason.

Glad you have worked it out, thank you again for the follow-up!
