Looking for ideas and inspiration for planning a game like Hogwarts Legacy

I recently started planning a game. This game is largely inspired by Hogwarts Legacy but also by others in some ways. I'm looking for some thoughts. What better way to make a game more exciting than to get thoughts from those that like to play?

Hogwarts Legacy was great but all games have their pitfalls. I would like to know what others think were shortcomings. What they really wanted that they let the opportunity slide. Things that could have been improved upon. Things that were frustrating that I could avoid in my own game, especially in a story sense or even mechanical.

And of course we cannot forget the good side. What did you like that could be implemented into other games? What felt good about it?

I'm also happy to get any additional ideas and inspiration. What would you like to see out of similar games?

*please note this is not a game based in the Harry Potter universe despite taking inspiration from it and will not have anything directly related to that franchise. Any creatures, objects, spells, etc from tue Wizarding World Universe will not be used in my own. I am open to suggestions based off inspiration however.*

I didn't like that they excluded quidditch. I know it's not something you can add, but it would be cool if you created your OWN game that fits your magic world. I think that would really exciting and refreshing.

Another thing would maybe be having companions or something. Kinda like in Skyrim. It's always interesting to see the different ways companions are implemented.

Actually, companions have already been written in to some degree.

But I love the idea of creating a completely new game for the world. So many possibilities. The thought is kinda exciting. Maybe I'll come to you for ideas when I get there! 😁

Please do! 😀

It sounds like a fun way to challenge myself. 😌

Did you make any progress with this? It sounds like a huge project, but good luck! : )
