I'm Glad Someone Apperciates The Classics

I just thought I'd say that I love someone appreciates the Sonic comics enough to make something like this game. Most people only know about the Sonic games and, those who do know the Sonic Comics, think everything was Ken Penders. There is just complete cultural erasure of all the great writers and artists the worked at Archie on this wonderful series and the artists who continue to do an amazing job at IDW.

I've never heard of the Charge system before but it looks pretty damn cool. Seems a good fit with its momentum based mechanic.

I have so much love for Archie Sonic! I'm glad you like this. There's another version coming up based on your MHR clone with a whole sourcebook. Still in playtesting though.

Archie Sonic is so underappreciated! Flynn's run is so good, and it's such a shame that Bollers, DeCesare, and others get slept on too. Terry Austin's inks, Yardley's development from issue 160 to IDW Sonic #1, and how far everybody pushed the Sonic lore and story.

I write and draw a webcomic continuing the story over here, if you want to check it out: https://archiesonicforever.com/

There was a lot here that took me by surprise.

First off, I didn't know anyone else was doing a Sonic Archie continuation. I was following another one: http://archiesoniconline.com/

That's amazing. I absolutely adore this passion. I hate copyright law. I believe characters and stories belong to their creators and their fans and the world. The passion you have to continue this legacy is inspiring to me. It's exactly how I think the world of art should work. Archie Sonic is the longest running video game comic of all time and has a rich lore and identity all its own. It's way past cool and its just amazing that you are all trying to keep it alive.

Personally, I am a big fan of Ian Flynn's era on Archie and IDW. I just gel well with his writing style and interpretation. Not sure what your favorite era was.

Secondly, I went bug eyed when you said you were making one based on my retroclone. That makes me so excited. I absolutely can't wait to see it.

If I were pressed to give a definitive answer, my favorite era would have to be the original, dork age gag era. Bad puns and all. Gallagher is so much cheesy fun, with wild swerves in pitch black horror comedy, but Penders kind of wrecks everything he touches, and then DeCesare is in there quietly getting the assignment better than anybody else up until Flynn. It's a real shame DeCesare wasn't  put on more stories.

Flynn is also great, and I almost prefer his post-reboot work to the gag era. IDW is kind of hit or miss for me though. The characters are great, but the pacing and world building leave something to be desired.

But the less I say about ASO, the better. The art's often great, and that's the only praise I can give it.

I'd be happy to give you a look at the sourcebook once it's a little more cooked! I've got all the setting info written up. Just need the NPCs and character generation hacks. Then I can get to work on the art.
