bitfield - a glitchy minimalist retro space shooter

bitfield is a retro pastiche space shooter, inspired by warm fuzzy memories of the games I played as a kid in the 80s, and filtered through a generous helping of CRT effects and glitches. You can check it out right here on itch.io: https://otresnjak.itch.io/bitfield

In addition to six levels of increasingly challenging action, if features a bunch of original retro-inspired music, as well as an end credits theme with vocals and lyrics by my dear friend Diana (listen to it on Soundcloud here!).

There's also a demo that contains fully half of the game (and one exclusive musical track).

It's Windows and keyboard only for now, though I might be able to do other platforms and control schemes if there's interest.

On a personal level, I've been a game programmer in my day job for over a decade now, but I've never managed to actually ship anything nontrivial in my spare time. So, even though this is by all accounts a tiny little game, it's kind of a personal milestone. I really hope people will enjoy it, and I'd love to hear any feedback y'all might have. <3
