Lightweight mecha action, forged in the dark. · By Briar Sovereign

Some rule clarifications

Hi, loving the game!

I've got some questions about a few bits that I don't quite understand -

  1. How do you imagine the 'station' playbooks participating in a CASE-focused mission? How would say the Doctor take part in a CASE assault on an enemy faction if they don't themselves have access to a CASE?
  2. Which of the actions would you use for a 'strength' check, like kicking a door down?
  3. Is the playbook Strive supposed to be tied to a specific action, or can it be any that fit the general idea?
  4. Are locked actions always locked, or only in the specific context? For instance would Orphan Sway still be locked if they were using it on another orphan?

Sorry that's a lot, but any help would be super appreciated! I think some of my uncertainty comes from an Armoured Core background rather than say Gundam.

for (1) - you probably want multiple things going on! i'd definitely consider watching some mecha anime. there's rarely just one thread of action happening throughout.

for (2) - it depends on how you're doing it. blitz, duel, or a relevant strive could all apply.

(3) - strive is its own action. you always have 3 dots in strive

(4) - they're always locked! ofc you're always free to say something doesn't require a roll, and thus a locked action doesn't matter

Thanks for the reply, and for the recent update, new art looks super cool! I’ve been inspired to work on a custom setting for case&soul, I was wondering if you’d mind if I shared it on this community page once it’s finished?
