Hello,

This game is pretty new and not as polished as I'd like it to be yet, so please let me know if there's anything that doesn't work quite right. Thanks :)

It won't run:

After much searching, I found that the missing file is part of the Microsoft Visual C++ redistributable from 2019. After finding and installing that file, I got:

Failed to load Python DLL 'path_to_game\_internal\python312.dll'.
LoadLibrary: <FormatMessageW failed.>

However, the python312.dll file is included in that folder. At this point, I give up.

i’m going to look into that asap (it might be a day or so :/) in the meantime, if anyone else experiences this please lmk

I am not familiar with Python, but it looks like you have a large chunk of the Python files bundled with the game. This explains the huge download. These files are for Python 3.12. I have been advised that this is not compatible with Windows 7 (which is what I'm using). You should give the minimum system requirements on the game page so that people like me don't waste hours trying to find and download missing components only to find that it doesn't work and was never going to work.

Can you compile this to run on Windows 7 or any other platform, such as Mac or Linux? Alternatively, can you get it to run in a browser?

okay so update - i'm about 70% of the way to getting it working on browser but i'm running into PATH issues which due to uncontrollable circumstances i can't fix until next week - hopefully (& probably) it'll be up before the end of the rating period for ParserComp24

(on a separate note - tysm for caring abt being able to play this game (: )

I'd really like to play this game, because I like the pixel graphics. I have a Windows 11 laptop somewhere, so I'll try and play it on that, maybe after playing the other games in the comp.

You might also like to know that the first review has popped up at https://intfiction.org/t/mathbrushs-parsercomp-2024-reviews/69454/3

thank you :)

here are a few bugs i’ve noticed. ( first let me say, i like the cute pixel graphics, and the humor. also: that’s for providing a browser version. that makes it much easier to play! )

  • when i’m in the post office ( playing the browser game ) i can’t seem to look at or examine anything. i can go into the box room, but everything else makes me exit onto the street.

  • when i’m in the barber, even though it says exit is southbound, if i type “s” it says it doesn’t understand. i have to to type “leave” instead.

  • it took me a bit to realize, i can press “enter” to get a description of the current surroundings. it would be nice if i could type “look”.

  • if i open the fridge, leave, and return - i can’t figure out how to see its contents ( “look fridge” gives me a description of the room. ) i just had to remember what was in there.

  • it would be nice if there was a blinking text cursor. i can type text okay, but it doesn’t feel like i can. ( it would also be nice if i could scroll backwards to see earlier text. )

  • “look empty box” says it doesn’t know what i mean. ( and in general, it would be nice not to have to type out the full names of the boxes to examine them. )

i’m still trying to figure out whether, after failing to deliver the second set of boxes, i can fix my mistakes. it seems like maybe not?

hi - thanks for bringing these to my attention. i'm gonna fix some of the major issues today fs :) i think i addressed most of those in the latest update/the one before it, hopefully making playing a little less tedious (redundant, maybe? not sure of the word)
