I tried this game after the beautiful bored mind (which was excellent) and I have to say the concept and graphics are 馃憣 10/10
but I was always in a rush to defeat the monster that I kept putting in the wrong symbols and dying ;-;
I know it's a game jam project, and you didn't have time to polish it, but a first monster with slower approach might give the player enough time to read through the whole book the first time. and it would help if the water, air, earth, and fire symbols were a permanent fixture of the GUI for those of us not experienced in necromancy lmao
and if you ever plan to update the game, a gradual introduction to the book's system would be great, for example the first monster can have the whole diagram filled out save for one or two spots. the next one is missing the links, and the next one has only 1 spot filled in etc.
then again that would be too easy because it's meant to be a not-so-well-written-book lmao lmao
good job! even if i couldn't win, it was a great concept and the goal of the level was easy to understand. the graphics and sounds are great (and stressful!) and I didn't get any bugs or errors in the code which is a great outcome of a game done on a short deadline XD
can't wait to see more of your excellent productions!
