Why would you make the unlocked animations prioritized to be played? That makes it tedious or impossible to unlock new ones. The update erased all animations I had and now will only play the single one you start out with.

The update shouldn't erase your animation unlock progress. Are you on Android? If so, uninstalling the app can erase all progress. Just install the newest APK file without uninstalling the old one.
I'm on pc. Are you sure about the prioritization? I have played through several nights, up to 16, losing on purpose a few times each night. Not a single new animation has been unlocked.
