ANY SAND, a short reflection on the long arc of radical solidarity work

hey all!

i just released ANY SAND, a narrative point-and-click about visiting your grandparent in a near-future Tkaronto, exploring their old collective house, and learning the (brief) history of a liberated Palestine.

the game was originally commissioned by Indiepocalypse for Issue 54, which you should very much immediately go and buy to support its creators! now that the new issue is out, i wanted to make my project available for free on its own.

as a white person with Palestinian family who has spent a lot of my adult life trying to figure out how to engage meaningfully in justice struggles, i wanted to tell a story about solidarity from that distance, and how it's important to fight for collective liberation even when you don't always feel the impacts state violence directly.

the game's name comes from the words of Rasha Abdulhadi, a poet and activist whose work I find brilliant and challenging. the itch page contains my Indiepocalypse zine submission with the full text of their quote.

if you play & have feedback or would like to connect, i'm always grateful for the chance to chat!

in solidarity,
