How do I download the new version onto the same "folder"/"file" as where I put 0.7.0 so that it "overlaps", and would updating to the new version wipe my save?

Lets also try to avoid spoilers here in case we discuss some events that some other people have not seen, me included. Thanks!

TL;DR - How do I download the new version to overlap the old version in the files, Would doing so erase my previous save, and should I watch or witness the rest of the events from 0.7.0 first or are they the same or similar (supposedly) in 0.8.0?

To describe the questions more:

1. How would I download the new version on top of the old version? Would it be as simple as just choosing the folder I initially extracted to, or would I have to do some "computer voodoo magic" in order for it to connect properly? I haven't updated a game through Itch.io before so I want to make sure I am doing this right.

2. Would downloading the new version, 0.8.0, wipe my save file from the previous most recent release, 0.7.0? I don't exactly mind restarting from the beginning as the update looks great, but I haven't gotten everything from 0.7.0 done yet (all events, story segments, etc.), as I am still only on I think the 33rd day or something in my first ever story mode run. So to extend this, would it be a good idea to finish/watch all events from 0.7.0 first before seeing how they change in 0.8.0, or would it be a better idea to start fresh and maybe experience the events differently if they were changed in the new verison?

I know some events were added and/or updated, so I think I could just move to a new version and it'll be fine. I simply just want some opinions from the more experienced community is all.

you don't need to overwrite. Just extract it wherever you want. Your saves and other files are all stored in a different folder from the game folder.

Even if you deleted 0.7 off your computer, you'd still have all your saves. 0.8 won't overwrites your 0.7 save unless you continue playing on your 0.7 save.

On the topic of continuing or not. You can just finish playing on 0.7 and then go to 0.8. 0.8 changes a lot of stuff on the map so I can't exactly tell you if continuing playing a 0.7 save on0.8 wouldn't cause issues, but you can continue playing from any day you wish if you start a new play on 0.8.

Basically EVERYTHING is saved outside of your game folder, how many days you've played, if you've beaten the game already. You can start a new version with the sandbox already unlocked, basically. Unless you go into your appdata folder and delete all the saves
