If you’re new to Solitaria, welcome! We’re so excited to have you join our cozy community of storytellers and explorers. This is the perfect place to introduce yourself, say hello, and let us know a little about what inspired you to start your journey in Solitaria.

Here are a few prompts to get started:

What are you most looking forward to in Solitaria?

Have you chosen a character archetype, or are you creating someone entirely new?

What do you hope your character will discover or accomplish on the floating islands?

Feel free to share your thoughts, ask questions, or just say hi! We’re a friendly, supportive group, and there’s always someone around to help if you need it.

I cannot wait to buy this game, now after I heard about where the game takes you.. about the self discovy as well. did not heard the voice explain of the game yet, but even more excited! Hope to join the community soooon! :D

Developer (2 edits)

Thank you so much for the kind words—the voice overview does touch on some of the game’s many elements, and we’re really glad something resonates with you already. And please feel free to share any thoughts or ideas as you play—hearing feedback directly is something we truly value. :D

We can’t wait for you to experience it firsthand. When you’re ready to dive in, know there’s a warm, welcoming community excited to share in the adventure with you. Or at least the Devs/ I am are here for you.

Looking forward to seeing you join us soon! 🎉

I love this game and I hope to create a artist with a love for adventure!

Developer

Oh, I love that idea! An artist with a taste for adventure? That’s going to be such a fun journey! 🎨✨ I’m excited for you and can already imagine your artist sketching out their adventures as they go. I’m sure your artist will have endless things to explore, sketch, and maybe even turn into masterpieces.

There’s just something so cool about seeing characters come to life with their own dreams and quirks—it really brings a whole new layer to the game.

I picked a forgotten hero.  I'm hoping she will discover how to chill a bit, and have a simpler life. I kind of want her to learn to be a baker. I actually started playing last night-- it took me four hours to start playing as I didn't want to spend time reading since I've played v1 before.  I'm assuming you get to other islands via sky beast. Other than taking a stroll.

Developer

Love it! A former hero learning to chill and bake—that’s the Solitaria spirit! 😊 It sounds like she’s on a perfect path to find that simpler life (and maybe even master the art of sourdough).

And you’re right—Skybeasts are indeed the way to explore the other islands. You can rent one at any Skybeast Rental Port for -1P, and the restrictions are there to gradually ease you into new content and give your character time to adapt. When you’re ready to head back home, though, just hop on a Cloud Shuttle, which will cost only time spent.

Looking forward to trying out this new version, just reading through it now. Though I notice at least what read out to be images where there should be tables. In the cloud port section, two of the clouds appear to be missing the part aobut pick one during your journey, the Wandering Nimbus and thunderdrift, it has the line but there is nothing beneath them. Mind you I am also using a screen reader and so it is pulling the text from the book using OCR as this doesn't seem to have any tagging done on it at least for the printer friendly version. Anywho, just wanted to toss that out there. Loving the new format of the book as far as how things are organized.

Developer

Thanks so much for sharing this with us, and glad to hear you’re enjoying the new layout so far! 😊

We couldn’t find the error you mentioned-is this on page 112? If you’re able to share a quick screenshot of the page or section where it’s showing up that way, that would really help us get a better look and see if we can fix it from our side.

Thanks again for bringing this to our attention—we appreciate it!

I got it, I got it! YAY I am in! I am reading through it as well! are there actually fillable sheets?  But the game looks really amazing! doubting between the artist and the outcast, but who knows! Such a journey to begin!

Developer (1 edit)

Yay, you made it in! 🎉 So glad to hear you’re diving right in and feeling the excitement—choosing between the Artist and Outcast sounds like the start of an awesome journey (both are such interesting characters!). Artist would be a great way to explore the rich world and the beautiful floating islands while Outcast might find themselves a home here.

And yes, we’ve got you covered with fillable sheets! We just uploaded them, you can download the playkit.7z, and we’ve also split each sheet into its own individual file so you can handle them separately or make duplicates if needed.

Enjoy exploring Solitaria—it’s going to be a fantastic adventure! 😊

Lots to read and discover but for so far, i have alot of fun! Is there a discord where players can talk with eachother about your games? Would love to connect and talk about the game and eachothers creations :D

Developer

So happy to hear you’re having a blast with Solitaria! 😊

Unfortunately, we don’t have a Discord just yet, but this Itch board is a great spot to chat and share your adventures. It’s awesome seeing the community grow, and we’re definitely keeping an eye on ways to help everyone connect even more in the future.

that would be awesome, maybe then we can help eachother how to get started and get into the rules, sometimes it is hard to understand, but also as the other writer, I am just a couple months into solo ttrpg so I am getting the hang of it, my character has a sheet now, so that is ready, but the calculations and the rest I still have to learn.

(1 edit)

Still getting into the game, don't have plenty tim to play, and have a bit trouble to get into system (not understand, but get into flow). Almost year ago started learning and trying solo RPG (didn't know before such was possible), and still have plenty things to learn. No matter what people can think about Solitaria, but it teached me one important thing about solo ttrpg - there need to be gamefying aspect. There place for purely journaling or narrative games that looks like writing, but TTRPG have a Game in it. Now always need to look for story side of things, sometimes need to think of game side. Tried before too much to concentrate on story side of things, and it was more work than fun.

So even if will never play (hope not, I have book and I planning to play) already grateful.

Developer (1 edit)

Hello there! 🌄

Thank you for sharing your journey into Solitaria with us—it’s inspiring to hear about your exploration of solo TTRPGs. We completely get it: sometimes solo play can feel like work, especially when it’s heavy on story creation and light on game structure. Balancing that game feel with storytelling was a big focus in Solitaria’s design.

To help make things feel smoother, we highly recommend you to only learn about the “Fate Step.” mechanics to start. This system is there to lighten your role as the GM by letting the game handle some of the “what happens next.” While you still get to guide your character’s journey creatively, Fate Step provides structure to support you within the world we’ve created—its settings, NPCs, and locations—so it feels more like playing and less like managing.

It’s like, oh I want to do this, what happens? How about this, and let Fate Step determine the fate of whatever action you’ve just performed.

To help you get started more easily, here’s a simple guide you can follow:

Jump right in: Once you’ve created your character, skip the detailed rules for inventory, abilities, or dates for now, just understand how Fate Step works and what’s the various elements means in your Character Sheet. Instead, start your adventure by arriving at Skydrop Landing. What does your character see, and what would they like to explore?

Head home when you’re ready: After your first exploration in Skydrop Landing, use a cloud shuttle to head back home. Just follow the shuttle’s directions and note down what you see along the way.

Start fresh each day: On your second day, begin with the “Rize Sprite.” This sets the day’s tone, and from there, let your character decide—will they continue exploring, work toward a dream, or get to know Skydrop Landing, or your Home Island more deeply?

If you need help with filling in details, the Oraclapedia Hall have alot of other types of oracles to help you generate more content too.

We hope these steps help you ease into the game while keeping it fun and relaxed. Take your time, you don’t need all the rules to start with, enjoy the journey, and when you’re ready to dive deeper, all the game’s features will be there waiting for you, learn a new game mechanics when you’re ready.

hello! Very excited to start the journey :) read through the main rules up until landing on the island. And then the npc section and I’m a little confused about the npc mechanic. Specifically the specific interactions with each one. Do you pick one of the prompts per level up or go through them all?

also is there a discord?

Developer

Hi there! 😊

We’re so excited that you’re diving into Solitaria! For the NPC mechanics, you only need to pick one moment (under each archetype’s stage) at a time during a stage. This is interchangeable with the pre-made NPC’s hangout scenario. Each interaction helps deepen the relationship. Once you reach max Favor, you’ll trigger the milestone scenario, which wraps up that stage and unlocks the next one.

To make this even clearer, we’ve updated the PDF version to include more detailed instructions in the Archetype section, along with a flowchart that walks you through how to activate NPCs. Be sure to check it out—it should help!

If you have any more questions, we’re here to help. Have fun exploring Solitaria! 🌿

Thank you for the reply!! I appreciate it :) where can I get the updated pdf?

Developer

You’re very welcome! 😊

You can grab the updated PDF from the project page. Just scroll to the bottom of the page, and you’ll find the download button there. If you’ve already downloaded it before, it’s the same location—we’ve replaced the old file, so you’ll just need to redownload it.

I just bought it and I'm so excited to dive in! I'm fairly new to solo journaling ttrpgs, and this one caught my eye as I was looking for something new and exciting. Haven't decided if I wanna use one of the player archetypes listed or do my own little guy, but we'll see!

So far my character is shaping up to be a mix of The Graduate/Outcast , with the traits independent, curious, loyal and socially awkward ^-^

Developer

Hey there! 😊

First off, welcome to Solitaria, and to solo TTRPGs! 🎉 We’re so excited you chose this game to dive into!

I have to say, mixing The Graduate and The Outcast sounds like a really fun combo! Those traits—independent, curious, loyal, and a little socially awkward—sound like they’ll lead to some really interesting moments. The floating islands of Solitaria have a lot of surprises, and characters like yours always find themselves in some of the most unexpected situations.

Take your time, enjoy the journey, and don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions. We’re happy to have you with us!

Happy journaling! ✨

Hi!

I just bought the PDF and created a young owl with social anxiety which dreams of becoming part of a society and feeling to fit in.

But I already am feeling stuck. I followed the invitation and took the train to the Skydrop Landing. After a little chat at the info point I felt like it is time to find my place. So I followed the instructions for the cloud shuttle. But now I feel like I'm stranded and don't know what to do. I don't know where I am when getting of the cloud. Have I missed the "welcome to your new home" sign?

Developer

Thank you so much for reaching out to us, and I really appreciate you sharing your experience with your owl character! I completely understand how it can feel a bit disorienting at first, especially when you’re excited to find that perfect spot to settle in. It sounds like you’re really diving into the world of Solitaria, and I love the idea of your owl with social anxiety—it’s such a relatable and heartfelt character to explore.

About where you’re at right now: when you hop off the cloud shuttle, you’re actually in the Veriya Crest Region, which is where all the main action happens. If you have the PDF handy, you can check out page 120 for a bit more orientation. This is essentially the hub for your journey, and from there, you’re free to explore the islands however you like—there’s no set order or specific quest. It’s all about wandering, discovering new areas, and finding where you feel most at home.

I think you’ve touched on something important regarding the clarity of the cloud shuttle experience. We do have this little line in the in-game text:

“Catch a cloud to ride back to your home island. The clouds are usually gentle, but if you fail to catch one, they may become more unpredictable and unruly.”

But it sounds like adding clearer directions or even a reference to the page number could be super helpful to guide players just a bit more smoothly. I’ll make sure to pass that feedback on to the team for future updates, so you’re definitely helping us improve!

In the meantime, I encourage you to keep exploring and maybe even lean into that feeling of being “stranded” as part of your owl’s journey. It could be a wonderful opportunity for your character to grow as they navigate finding their place in this vast, floating world. And of course, if you have any more questions or need a nudge in the right direction, don’t hesitate to reach out. We’re here to help!

Thank you for this fast reaction.

I can‘t wait to see my little owl explore the world and how she will evolve and grow from feeling overwhelmed and stranded 😊

I just recognised a typo.

On page 121 on the Home Island Index. It says the Rize Sprite is on page 112, but it's actualy on page 122.

And on the bottom of the page is a second "Rize Sprite". I guess it should say "Nite Sprite"

Just in case you didn't notice this yet.

And on page 159, I'm not quite sure, but I think at 2, it should say for each goal, instead of tool.

Is there a place where I should mention this kind of things, or is it ok to just post it here? I wasn't sure.

Developer

Hi there!

Thank you so much for spotting those errors, and we really appreciate you taking the time to point them out! It looks like we must’ve mixed up the numbers during a copy-paste, and we’re so grateful for your sharp eye. You’re absolutely right—the Rize Sprite is on page 122, and that second mention should be Nite Sprite. We’ll also update the “tool” to “goal” on page 159.

If you happen to notice any more typos or anything else, feel free to either start a new thread or respond here—whatever works best for you! Your feedback is incredibly helpful, and we’ll make sure these corrections are included in a future update.

I'm so sorry to bother you again.

But I don't know what to do (again) My character had a pretty awesome day, with a scenario that came up from the rize sprite and a festival event that came up with the date. With the scenario I created a small goal, that I achieved in a fun little story that evolved with the Fate System.
I understand the worth system and the trading system. But I don't know how to get started with that. Do I apply for a job somehow? Do I receive rewards from islanders for fulfilling "quests"?

Oh and do plants grow regularly after planting or do I need to plant a new seed after every harvest?

Developer (1 edit)

Hi there!

You’re never a bother, so no worries at all! It sounds like your owl had an awesome day, and I love hearing how you’re weaving their story together with the Rize Sprite and festival event.

Let’s get into your questions:

Worth and Trading System: You don’t need to apply for a job! The easiest way to start obtaining items are by trying out the Gacha Machine (check page 106 for details). Just flip a coin, and you’ll receive a random item that can be traded. It’s a fun, simple way to dip your toes into the system without much pressure.

Jobs and Quests: There’s no formal “job” system in Solitaria, so your owl doesn’t have to worry about that! 😊 As for quests, while there aren’t traditional quests, you’ll find a variety of NPC scenarios starting on page 330. Each acts like a mini-story where completing one could earn your character rewards. It’s a great way to connect with the islanders and gain rewards such as abilities or items.

Planting and Harvesting: Once you harvest a crop, you’ll need to plant a new seed to grow another. This gives you a chance to plan and choose what to plant next. Similar to games likes harvest moon.

Solitaria is all about exploring, so feel free to experiment with different actions and let your character’s journey unfold naturally. I’d love to hear more about your owl’s adventures—keep me posted anytime!

My owl Met a little skybeast baby and wanted to help it find the parents. But we couldn’t find them so she took it to the Skydrop landing, because she remembered that there is a skybeast rental, so there has to be someone who can help her. At the Skydrop an old hobbit gave her an invitation flyer to the lantern festival. That’s how she learned about this amazing festival. At the skybeast rental she was actually pretty lucky and found the baby’s father and watched the happy reunion. So to celebrate she will visit the lantern festival. 😊 I just don’t know where the festival is taking place. 🫣😅

Thank you for all your help. This is my first time trying a solo rpg game and I’m still trying to figure out how everything works, although I’m having a lot of fun with the mini bits I already tried.

oh… I‘m not sure. But during the day I found the skybeast baby’s parents, but my nite sprite told me during goal evaluation, that I didn’t achieve my goal. So I guess I need to figure out what went wrong, although I’m pretty surprised and not sure if I understand that mechanic correctly. So no matter how the story evolved during the day in the evening it can completely change, according to the nite sprite goal step?

Developer

I completely understand your surprise—it can be tricky when your story unfolds one way, but the Nite Sprite evaluation suggests something different. It sounds like you’re encountering a mechanic we’re currently refining, and we really appreciate your patience as we work through these changes. We’ve left space in the guide (pages 140 and 161) for updates to clarify goal evaluation, so stay tuned for those!

Upcoming Improvements to Goal Completion Morning Confirmation: After the Rize Sprite step, you’ll be able to confirm your goal if you feel confident about achieving it narratively. Fate Step Adjustments: For confirmed goals, the Fate Step will determine the degree of success, offering rewards or complications. For unsure goals, it will reflect more uncertainty. Oracles: New Oracles will offer hints or feedback to guide your decisions. Dream and Passion Influence: These will now help influence goal evaluations based on your character’s motivations. Time as a Resource: You’ll have the option to spend extra Time Tokens to salvage a failed goal. For now, keep in mind that the Fate Step brings an element of unpredictability. Even if everything seems perfect during the day, the Fate Step may introduce some twists. After narrating your story, you’ll draw cards to determine if your efforts were successful, unsure, or even failed. It’s all part of capturing the unpredictable nature of life on the floating islands!

If the evaluation didn’t go as expected, try weaving that into your narrative—maybe an unexpected storm scattered the skybeast parents again, creating new story possibilities. We’re excited to improve this mechanic, and we’ll keep you updated!

Developer

Thank you so much for sharing your owl’s adventure with us—it’s such a heartwarming story! 🦉 I’m glad to hear your owl helped reunite the baby skybeast with its father. And what a lovely way to stumble upon the lantern festival!

As for the festival’s location, that’s the exciting part—it’s up to you! The beauty of Solitaria is that your world is yours to shape, and the community often decides where these magical events take place. So feel free to choose a spot that feels just right for you.

I’m thrilled you’re having fun, especially as a first-time solo RPG player!
