Dev Log: Nov 27, 2024

Hello everyone and fellow game devs! 👋

A couple of months ago, I came up with an idea to create a Sudoku game that would not only appeal to puzzle and Sudoku enthusiasts but also introduce the joy of Sudoku to new and unfamiliar players. The goal was to make Sudoku more fun, engaging, and approachable.

I initially shared my idea here and reached out to see if any game devs were interested in collaborating. Fast forward a few months, and I'm thrilled to share that we've made some progress! With a small but passionate team of sound composers, programmers, artists, and writers (including myself), we've reached an exciting milestone. We now have a work-in-progress screen recording to showcase the direction of the game!

The vision behind this game is to highlight that Sudoku is not just about solving puzzles but also about enjoying the process and journey, celebrating small victories along the way. This approach is inspired by my personal love for Sudoku and the sense of calm and accomplishment it brings.

In this snippet developed by our programmer, we showcase some of the core features of our Sudoku game. The grid takes center stage, providing players with a familiar and intuitive interface for solving puzzles. The section where you can enter the number of grids, etc... is just for testing purposes and won't be in the final build of the game.

To the right, you'll find a control panel offering several key functionalities:

  • Pause Timer: Allows players to pause their progress.
  • Undo/Redo: Lets players easily reverse or repeat their last selections.
  • Completion Check: The checkmark icon enables players to submit their solution and view their completion record.

Behind the grid, we plan to integrate dynamic backgrounds tailored to each environment and level. These immersive visuals will tie into the game's campaign structure, enhancing the overall experience as players progress through different challenges.

We’re still early in development, but I’m excited to hear your thoughts, feedback, or any advice you have as we continue to build this project. Thank you for being such an inspiring and supportive community!

Stay tuned for more updates—I can’t wait to share what’s next. Have many exciting features that I believe will make this game unique.🙌
