For what it's worth, I had to close all tabs in my browser and relaunch it to get reasonable/unthrottled speeds. It could be Itchio bandwidth if downloading at a peak time, or that might fix it for you.
If it's any consolation, close the EG chapter 1 release, Itch.io was actually having website issues so it's possible that may have contributed. Hope ya'll enjoyed the game.
