Hi everyone,
I’m Stanisław, a hobbyist and amateur developer, and I’m new to the itch.io community. After spending a lot of time learning and experimenting, I’ve finally decided to share my first-ever “public” app: pixie.haus. It’s both exciting and a little intimidating to put it out there, but I’m eager to get some first-hand feedback from indie devs like you.
About pixie.haus: Pixie.haus is a tool designed to help generate pixel art sprites using AI. My goal was to make a tool that speeds up the creative process while still leaving room for customization and refinement.
Here’s what it currently offers:
- Two Base Models for Image Generation: The tool uses Flux Schnell and Luma Photon Flash models for generating pixel art. Both models are designed to be really fast and relatively cheap, which makes exploring different design ideas quick and accessible.
- Background Removal: It includes a simple flood-fill algorithm for background removal. While it’s not perfect and may leave some small artifacts, these can be edited easily in the tool’s native editor or any editor of your choice.
- Additional Image Processing: The tool applies extra processing like color quantization and image resizing to enhance the results. This makes the final output much better suited for pixel art than what you might get from a standard image generator.
- Animation Model: I’ve also implemented a model for animations (minimax/video-01-live). This feature is more expensive compared to image generation, but it can produce fairly consistent pixel art animations. While it’s probably not ready for production-level work, it’s great for prototyping and can save a lot of time compared to animating frame by frame. With a few manual tweaks, the results could even be polished enough for final use.
Why I’m Sharing This: The app is still in a super early stage, so to encourage testing and feedback, I’m giving 400 free tokens to new accounts. That’s enough to generate 80 still sprites or 2 animations.
You can also check out the gallery here: https://pixie.haus/gallery. Everything in the gallery was generated using this tool.
I’d love to learn directly from indie developers:
- Do you find tools like this helpful in your projects?
- Are there features you’d like to see added to make your workflow easier?
- How do you think it could be improved to better serve your needs?
I’m also attaching a few sprites that have been created with this tool to give you an idea of what it can do:
Thanks for taking the time to read this and for any feedback you might have. This is my first step into sharing something with the community, and I’m really looking forward to hearing your thoughts!
