Hey FearFaithDev,
I am yaato or so I call myself on the internet. You may know me from TikTok or so.
I played your Demo, and I am here to give you my feedback on it.
Ill start with the “negative” things:
1. Negative
- It's just my opinion, but I feel like the health bar could get a little redesign. I thought of a darker red or a more noble style.
- I also thought about a map/minimap. I would understand, if not just because of the way it felt like every route you go is more of an important decision.
- A little inventory to see what items you collected would also be really great and helpful.
- I also felt like the bosses were mostly spamming attacks without a pattern. That's my biggest critic to mention.
(not directly a negative point, but I got a bug where the daughter of rage didn't move. It only happened once out of like 30 times tho)
Now to the good and great things about this unique game:
2. Positive
- First, I really like the graphic of this game. It reminds of an old PS2 game perfectly and matches the dark, mysterious and unknown atmosphere. The light and shadowing of the character, torches, walls, entities, and even the blood fits in amazingly great. As well as, the POV of the playable character is really well-chosen. You don't see too much, but not too less. He doesn't block your vision on enemies attacks, neither.
- The sound couldn't be really better, in my opinion. It supports the feeling of being on your own wonderfully.
- The fact that you are mostly for yourself without more detailed explanations about decisions makes it great to not only play multiple times, but to think about them too. I found it very enjoyable.
- The hanging key on the belt is a nice detail. I like it, just like the clean cuts through objects.
- To come to an end. The fight mechanism is absolutely fabulous. The way the playable character moves, the swing animation and the range of the weapon as well as the hits. It's all almost perfect. The realistic weight of the sword is less seen in many games. Not to forget the parry, which is much seen but nonetheless incredibly well implemented. It allows a constant growth on your skill and with the fact you spawn in right away after being killed, feels like not wanting to give up ever. It's hard but fair and definitely not impossible.
[I wasn't clear about the story since the game is not finished, so I let it out if my feedback. ]
And with that, we got to the end. I really enjoyed the demo very much. I can't wait for the final product to be official.
I hope I can help with it and maybe support your dream a bit.
Yours,
Yaato
