Steam test ID

I have been working on a mess around project and its getting close to a great playable alpha. I would like to get peoples feedback on it and see what improvements they would like to see and what additions as I progress with its development.

its currently using the steam subsystem with the steam test ID (480) "Space Wars" I couldn't find a definitive answer weather this is allowed on Itch or not. If the community can help guide it to becoming an enjoyable experience I would like to eventually put it on steam.

If anyone has some information regarding this. it would be great thank you so much. otherwise i'll have to rip out the steam subsystem stuff. lol

Might want to contact support for a definitive answer. It's probably fine if people can play and enjoy the game as acquired from Itch.io without having a Steam account. Bonus features added on top of the base game can require one.

Ahh yeah, there is a solo mode. but the networking is handled via steam. I've been thinking though, Maybe is possible to have the option for not steam so it can cater to all. But since multiplayer is only working via LAN and steam at the moment I guess that is an issue. Thanks for your reply.

I'll look into seeing if its possible to run a non-steam networked version and a steam version if not i'll just get started on removing steam lol

So it seems a most difficult task not using steam as a subsystem for networking. Would it be allowed on here still either way as it has Solo mode and LAN? so you can play it by yourself without or over local network.

I've tried using port forwarding and direct IP connection and all sorts. it doesn't seem to want to work with anything other than steam. I guess this is why there are only 3 games that come up unto the tags UE4 and multiplayer. one is LAN only, the other is multiplayer on the same machine and the last uses IP but i think C++ is required for that.

If the answer is no i'll understand i'll contact support as recommended before to be sure.  as well. Thanks in advance.

No, you can not use steam features in other websites or outside of steam. It has the same DRM tools that people do not like.
