What was the water with an anti-gravity gem for?

I found one in the fire to the right behind the recieving door and another behind a statue. Im curious to see what they do.

Also if you listen closely next to the gem it makes some weird noises

you put the hot ingot in the water to turn it back to normal i guess

i think it's suppose to heat treat the blades hammers and etc. once you made one on the anvil put it again on the fire and when it's ready dio it on the water this makes the metal stronger and also i think it increases it's value
