Bug ?

Famistudio 2.0.1  portable install

Specs - windows 10 64 bit Intel i9700k 32mb ram.

I am just starting with Famistudio and I quickly ran into an issue. When I play a song. Either one of the demo song or my own or even an imported NSF, the song position marker in the pattern section is moving too slow.  It is lagging behind the playback. The marker in the piano roll is moving at the right speed though. The digital timer seems to also be advancing at the proper speed.

I am not sure if I am doing something wrong or if that is a know issue. I can make a video demo if required.

*On a side note, I watched the tutorial video and I cannot see this happening in the youtube tutorial.

Hello!

How far behind are we talking about? The internal audio buffer that FamiStudio uses is approximately 3 frames, so the sound shouldnt "lag" more than 3 frames (~45ms) behind the yellow line which is very short. I'm assuming you have way more than this otherwise you wouldn't be reaching out! :)

On my home setup, I have found things like Bluetooth headphones to add a huge amount if lag (on everything with audio, not just FamiStudio).

Could you tell me more about your audio setup so we can diagnose this?

Thanks!

''Salut! ''

Ok I made a short video that shows the problem.

I used one of your demo song freshly loaded.  Also, I just installed the non portable version and it does not fix the bug, I also restarted my computer, no luck.

As you can see on the video, the pattern position marker is moving slower than the actual playback and the piano roll marker. I am using a Behringer UCA200 usb audio interface for my audio output.

Oooooh. Sorry!

Now i understand, I think its a purely display bug. What i think is happening is this:

  • The piano roll scrolls at the correct speed
  • The sequencer goes at 1/2 the speed it should

I totally think this is a bug in the scaling.  You probably have a 4K monitor which i dont test too often.

Could you (just for a test) set your Windows desktop scaling to 100%? (If you dont want to change your whole desktop, you can force 100% scaling in the FamiStudio option, click on the "gear" icon on the toolbar).

If it fixes it, please send me an email at famistudio@outlook.com and I'll have you test an updated version (on continuera en francais!).

You nailed it !  Good thinking. My windows scaling is set at 150%. I have a 2k monitor.

I went in the famistudio options and forced 100% scaling. It fixed it. But now everything is so small D:  ( I have bad eyesight )

Fix included in 2.0.2 which was just released. Thanks again for the bug report and debugging.
