I've tried the same thing. I can't get anywhere. I followed the steps and this is how:
Look around. Got Potion. Drank Potion.
Wait until the slugs are gone. Ask "What's happened to you?"
Steal door keys. Look around. Offer acorn to gribler. Ask him to arrange a brawl.
Open all the cameras and attack the guards. Look around. Get stone.
Pass stone into the spider's web.
Rusty dies. Again. What next?

Thanks, it sorted all out on its own, the monster was actually moving around the map on its own, attacking other monsters. The sapphire eventually appeared too :)
Another question, is there any way to increase backpack size?
Also, after clicking on premium button, there's a note saying something about a complete walk through, where can one find it? Oh, and I would've pay for the premium anyway, the game is fun to play, but was curious about that walkthrough
I thought that there was a bug in the bookworm quest, first one if there's more than one, but I just hadn't tried every combination of choices yet. You should provide the option of sharing with the gribler being beaten a second time. If you try to talk to him first, you are unable to then also share with him. I think you should allow the choice to share with him to be available after trying to talk to him. It's more real that way.
