Primary rating criteria for game jams

On itch.io you can host two kinds of jams: ranked and unranked. When hosting a ranking jam you provide "voting criteria" to specify how participants can rank other entries.

Previously, if you had multiple criteria, we would automatically average together the results of all of them and create an "Overall" ranking that would be used for the final ranking in results. A few users reached out about creating their own custom primary criteria, since averaging all the criteria didn't make sense for them. You can now do just that by selecting the "Primary" checkbox next to any criteria. It will only appear if you have multiple criteria.

You can manage all criteria options when creating or editing a game jam.

If you're new to game jams, learn more about hosting a game jam on itch.io.

Enjoy
