Hey everybody!
A murky welcome to all the new followers here on Itch, the survivors of the great newsletter purge. And, of course, also to everybody who followed me on Itch before. In the future, I'll attempt to be active here on Itch and put out a blog post every now and then. I'm interested to see how many people (as in viewers) that'll lure. A few words on why I retired the newsletter: A new regulation prevented me from sending a newsletter from my regular Google business email address. Only emails from top-level domains are supported (by Brevo) in the future. Because the GUI was clunky and unnecessarily complex, I was reluctantly using it anyway, so I'm kind of happy I got it off my hands now (so I didn't look into migrating somewhere else). So all is well(ish).
What happens in 2024?
Now, as you all know, it's extremely hard to predict what projects I'll actually tackle. It's always a spur-of-the-moment decision what new project I'm starting when an old one is finished. At the moment, I'm feeling very much like going hard on OG Mörk Borg. There are many places I've left to explore and one or two zine conversions are still on the to-do list. At the moment, I'm toiling away on the Vaults of Torment Redux. After that, I'm planning city adventures/supplements in Schleswig, Grift, and Alliáns as well as a small campaign set in Sarkash. But something for Dragonbane is on my potential project list as well. With one planned CY_BORG project to boot, that is 2024 already filled in terms of projects. Let's see which of those become reality!
Distribution is Tough Business
If you backed DUNGEONS! and have seen my latest KS update, you'll know that Soulmuppet no longer fulfills my projects. The reason for that is simply that fulfillment is such an error-prone and complex issue that it's not commercially viable for them. As in, they wouldn't want to continue even if I offered them more money. For now, the great people Beyond Cataclysm will take care of fulfillment, and I hope they'll do that for all eternity, but I always have to be prepared for the worst. I guess eventually, I'll be forced to look into opening my own store and handle (worldwide) fulfillment myself, but I dread it. Because that might also mean I have to set up a company and get lawyered up (ughh). And I also don't want to run a store in general, I want to create stuff. So every hour spent on that will take an hour away from all creative endeavors. I guess we'll see what the future holds, no point in fussing about it for now. I just hope I can write and draw away in 2024 in peace!
Well, that's all I can think of for now. Thanks for reading, and see you in the future!
~Christian
