Devlog # 21: What do you mean we're at the end of 2024

So oops lmao I realized I never did post a devlog for October in the beginning of November. It's not like I did much then because, as you may have seen in my previous devlog, my dayjob assigned me a ton more shifts due to the upcoming holiday season so at least I'm doing more okay in terms of finances than I feared initially. This sadly just means I didn't have time or energy to do much dev besides some GUI tweaks and some writing in October.

Plus, well, I was supposed to post this devlog at the beginning of November. You know what else happened in November? The US elections. And yeah… yeah… I didn't really have the motivation or energy to be online for a while, for good reason. At least I'm feeling a lot better since I'm blessed to have a good support system irl, but funny enough the disappointment of the election has been bolstering me to do more drawing and delving into my longer projects because now more than ever, I want to make them real.

So that's what I did in my spare time in November! I've been drawing and doing some studies to get back into it, and in the meantime I've also been doing some maintenance and updates to my personal VN GUI frame.

This is also a good reminder to y'all to back up your work! Nothing bad had happened on my end thankfully, but I will say I really don't like how much my drawing/dev laptop has been freezing and giving me heart attacks each time it does. I've already backed up and vacated the needed files, but considering that laptop is 6 years old at this point, perhaps it's time for me to invest in a nicer drawing tablet. Thankfully with the money I got from my extra dayjob shifts plus savings, I was able to get an XP-Pen drawing tablet on Black Friday and am eagerly anticipating it's arrival.

That’s all I can really say for now! I’ve been whittling away at longer projects that’s not ready to show off yet, and chances are that’s what I’ll be doing in December. Especially since a good portion of my time is going to be spent on extra shifts because lmao Tis The Season as a retail worker, so I suspect I won’t have much time or energy to do much else. I'll do some retrospectives of the things I've made for the next devlog since the next one is going to be close to New Years!

Until then, Happy Holidays everyone! See you in the next year! :D
