Gameplay - I really want to rate this higher, but it's just too messy. I couldn't even finish because I couldn't figure out how to get out of the throne room with the ring and emerald, and it's hard to justify continuing to look for a solution when there's a door on the left that just doesn't work and I can't decide if the puzzle is even possible or not. 1
Story - There's barely anything, just a basic premise. 1
Presentation - I think the art style is great and I like the map style and design, even if it can be hard to tell where the path to other maps is. 3
Creativity - There's definitely something here, and the wine puzzle is creative. 3
Horror - There's very little horror besides the atmosphere and the shadow butterfly that's extremely easy to avoid. 2
Theme - There are plenty of jewels but none of theme are explicitly cursed as far as I could find. There are curses though at least. 2
If this game is updated to fix the various issues (and perhaps just include a quick guide like Three Yellow Quartzes so people can more easily identify if they're stuck because they could't solve the puzzle or stuck because the game broke) I will absolutely play it again, but as is I can't spend any more time on it.
thank you
i agree that this was a mess
i will try to work on it
This game is difficult to rate. For one, there's a lot of great things about it. The artstyle, for one and the overall atmosphere.
However, it's also hard to tell what is what. For example, i couldn't tell that the shed near the lake is actually a building you can enter and only discovered it by accident.
Another thing about it was the... lack of direction and the bugs. It's important to playtest your game thoroughly even after submitting it and making sure it's able to be finished from the start to the end. In this game, there didn't seem a way to progress past the room with the statues and one open doorway couldn't be entered, which seems like a bug. And it was very unclear what exactly you should be doing.
I hope you create another game with a more refined version of this artstyle and also update this game to fix the bugs. It definitely has great potential.
I think there may be a few bugs with the current version. I went around in circles and with many reloads but was unable to progress beyond figuring out the puzzle, getting the terracotta owl and finding/using the golden arrow. I had charcoal but couldn't find anywhere to draw or what to do with it. I couldn't find anything to do with the chess board. The secret passage gets locked out after you go in and out once. Sometimes it goes dark everywhere after being in there but if you go back to the wine room it fixes it. I was also locked out at times from going back outside, not sure if that was intended or not. The left side of the secret passage room appears to show a door but couldn't use it. Also couldn't find anything to interact with in that small room with the person with green flowing eyes, couldn't talk with them or do anything in there other than save. Tried everything I could think of and clicked everywhere I could but yeah, I can only assume at the moment that there's some bugs going on that's stopping progress. Last thing is that you can keep trading the rabbit paw for terracotta owls, it doesn't get removed from your inventory. With all that said I do hope to see updates, I would definitely be up for trying it out again. The art style made a few spots difficult to tell what was going on but overall I really liked the unique/chaotic look of it. 👍
charcoal: there’s a mirror to the left of the throne room,
chess: the pieces are set to be a combination
Is that where it looks like a door? The opposite side to where you go outside to the water stream? If so I clicked all over there but no interactions, tried all along the wall/left side too.
I really loved the presentation of the game! The scratchy hand drawn map is very fun to look at and very spooky to explore, and I love the little guy. It's just a little guy! Gotta love a little guy!
I got a little bit stuck so I'll be returning to it later, but I really enjoyed the parts I did get to! I really loved the creative take on the theme, and I'm very curious about the various characters as well... It's a shame I couldn't figure out how to talk to them :,)!
SPOILERS...
I really took my time to try and figure out the wine puzzle and tried out a variation that I think make sense..? my thought process: dessert wine = rose (because of rosé), red and white for gut and bone, blue for moonlit... Though I guess purple does not exactly fit for "warm"...! I will get back to this again, though I believe I accidentally trapped myself out of the secret passage after going through it too many times.
I've tried to play this game, the art is great, however the wine puzzle seems to be beyond my abilities for now.
no worries, it is in fact, completely optional
Ah, so, how to proceed then?
just go left to the library
