This was a fun mini-game! The appearance is simple yet clean. As others have mentioned, it was also challenging. It took me several tries to complete. I didn't realize initially that I would have to repeat words, because there weren't enough syllables from the given words. I felt a bit confused about the word bank provided. If a short word is given, I found I could type it five times to complete the first line, for example. Also, I discovered that there's no input validation, meaning that "a b c d e" counts as a five syllable line. Thank you for your game!
Pretty hard to make a haiku with the words given but its a fun challenge! 20 seconds is a really short time to make a haiku but its definitely possible. I think it would be nice though if you could click the words instead of typing them, that would make it a lot easier to make a poem in 20 seconds.
I also didn't realize that those words were just inspiration and not a requirement, I think making that mandatory might be a little more interesting as well! Didn't realize that until I made my magnum opus haiku of
do i have to use
the words provided on screen
or can i use mine
The game is still a lot of fun though and its a really neat idea!
I liked it, but I noticed that the words do not seem to have enough syllables to fill a full haiku, so as you can tell I had to repeat the words at the end to fill up the poem.
This is one of the few times where I actually wished the game went on for more than 20 seconds, because that would allow me to actually write something that makes sense.
Nice idea, though, and a fun twist on a typing game!

Besides being a Haiku game, it’s actually also a great Typing Teacher game with the timer.
It’s also great to see an entry that doesn’t use a game engine, as such. Nice work.
Thanks for the feedback and thanks for hosting the jam!

Thank you for the feedback! I made a ticket to add a setting to the game that allows you to disable/extend the timer: https://github.com/benrosen/twenty-second-haiku/issues/52
Let me know if you have anymore feedback, and thanks again for playing my game! :)
