Hi all! The game jam starts up tomorrow, at 10:00 AM EST. The theme will be posted to the itch.io page then.
Also, we hit 100 participants!!! That's awesome!!
Some reminders:
- The theme is optional. It's meant to inspire you to create something — but it's not a requirement! That being said, one of the voting categories is the theme, so you should still try to incorporate it to some degree.
- The games are ranked in the four categories by the community after the submission period ends. The final game rankings are determined via this community judging. So please, play and rank other people's games during the week after the jam ends! You will only be able to vote and rate games if your itch account is credited as being an author on a submitted game. (This is so that people can't create extra accounts to sway the voting. Please don't try that.) So if you're working as a team, make sure each member's itch account is added as a co-author on your game's page, so that way each member can vote games as well!
- This game jam is for college students. (Undergraduates) We have received lots of questions about who can participate. We have decided that college-age beginners are welcome to participate, but we are keeping the prizes limited to those currently enrolled in undergraduate education.
And remember, you don't "win" a game jam by getting a high ranking. You "win" a game jam by making a game. While we're offering prizes to enliven the competition, our real goal here is to learn and have fun!
LET'S MAKE SOME GAMES!!!!!!
