Very cool game but there was no way to get into the elevator after seeing the boss. If you choose to visit the boss before writing the email you can still get the task of going to the elevator but again your blocked by a plant.
It's just a bug with the UI, you have to complete the computer game to then talk to the boss and open the elevator. For some reason the UI changes when you interact with the boss even if he doesn't talk to you.
