great job for a first ever game! you guys absolutely killed it with the aesthetics. dying in one hit and starting from the beginning makes the difficulty feel artificial, though. otherwise, well done!

As soon as I saw the screenshots I knew I was going to enjoy this entry and you didn't disappoint ^^

Albeit short, I loved the story, aesthetics and setting. Had enough intrigue to hook me in. I compared it a lot with a game called Detention which had a very similar premise.

With more polish, you will have a nice foundation to build an amazing Horror experience.

What I would recommend looking into;

1) Movement Speed; I felt the character was running and turning too fast

2) Coverage of Out of camera areas; There are some instances in which the player can move outside of the fixed camera angle perspective; I'd suggest having does cameras be able to rotate to those areas so that the character is always on screen as much as possible.

3) More ways to out maneuverer the enemies; I Imagine the game would mainly focus on a hide and seek aspect; So more ways to lure enemies away or to a certain position would aid in creating a more dynamic experience.

Amazing work! Keep it up!

Great game! Impressive for a game jam entry. I did find hiding from the monsters to be too precise, and it’s super hard without a continue option. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but the resolution felt too high for it to feel like a 32-bit game. Regardless, the game looks amazing. I would love to see this project further developed in the future.

Things I liked the most:

  • The art style and intro sequence got me hooked in
  • The music and ambience adds to the atmosphere
  • The scene was cool to explore and it was fun discovering some of the mechanics of what can be interacted with
  • There were multiple times when I got spooked from the mobs

Things that need more work in my opinion:

  • It took some time to get used to the movement since I expected the character to face the direction being pressed in immediately
  • The camera changing the views made it somewhat jarring to traverse
  • There was a point where I felt like I was just waiting for the mobs to pass for a long time and dying immediately to the mobs was a bit cumbersome to run back
  • The lighting made it hard to see the environment depending on the angle

they eat my ass

This one was really cool. I love PS1 horror games like Resident Evil and Silent Hill and this really scratched that itch. The premise so far reminds me of Corpse Party and some Fatal Frame inspiration. I think the lack of save points makes this game sorta needlessly difficult though, and the enemies one shotting you is sorta boring. I think it was really short which was super disappointing because I wanted more though. For newcomers, y'all did a fantastic job and you should continue to develop this game further, you really got something here.

Interesting story, tho the controls feel a bit wonky.

overall, cool game to play.
