Cosmos: check. Horror: Check. Solid entry and pretty ideal for a game jam. Enhanced by the generally black and white aesthetic and use of ambient sounds. The artwork was pretty awesome. Loved the monsters when I could catch a glimpse of them. A couple gameplay issues hurt it a little.
The biggest one was a game crashing bug that occurred on reloading, after enemies began chasing again. It seemed to be related to the sound or something like that. So unfortunately, I wasn't able to complete the game on hard since I'm not good enough to make it through on one run.
Second issue I had was in the chase gameplay itself. It felt a bit random whether or not I got hit, which made it feel a bit cheaper when enemies actually got me. I may just be bad at timing though. I'll have to see if Hawk had any better luck in his playthrough.
Glad for the easy mode option, which gave me a chance to complete the game. The final boss was pretty awesome, and the ending was pretty cool, though perhaps a bit optimistic for cosmic horror.
Bottom line: I really enjoyed this submission, and it was equal parts creepy and cool.
I've never gotten a sound bug before, though I think it would have something to do with how rpg maker mv compiles sounds when deploying a project, and how the plugin for the 3d sound is a bit jank sometimes with that.
I'm happy you liked it either way.
A solid presentation, an interesting conveyance of the terror of space within the moon. Overall, an experience that conveys what the horrors of the cosmos is all about.
I was already intrigued by the custom arts and sprites alone! <3 I also loved that animated space travel intro! The premise is indeed very creepy, and the gameplay mechanic of scaring away the cosmic threats using your flashlight was a cool touch! The creature is indeed a terrifying one, and you'll meet it during the boss battle! :D The dev has really captured the horror atmosphere of the silent space, most especially when its set on the dark side of the moon! Like, I wonder what kind of creepy stuff really are lurking there. xD :D Your depiction might be accurate? Who knows? :D Overall, great job Frostnoble for this scary experience! :) I enjoyed it!
Thanks, I’m glad you liked it.
