Changing vantage point ended up not working for me, which was unfortunately frustrating because there ended up being several times where a guy was hiding behind a wall.
I like the core conceit of playing Guess Who? and merging it with a Flash sniper game, but the loop ended up eventually turning into me waiting for relevant info while I'm sitting back sipping coffee and then whittling information down bit by bit. One thing that I think might be good is to have the NPCs move back and forth, some of them trying to act casual, some of them zipping around in a panic, some of them trying to hide, and using that information to help deduce who's being suspicious.
Of course, that sort of thing would be extremely difficult to program in a week. As it stands now, this is pretty promising! I look forward to seeing if this gets developed further!
Thank you for playing! If I had a bit more time I would have tried implementing a sensitivity slider, next time I think I'll have that hooked up from the start instead :)
Ouch! But yes, I would have liked to do more onboarding that the "tips" text on the title screen if there was time! As it stands, the actual rules are a bit obtuse.
I think I’m just impatient haha. Though maybe you could add an option to tag/highlight people you’re pointing at? Would make it easier for keeping a running count of everyone who still matches the description. Maybe too easy as it currently stands, but just a thought.
That's actually a great idea. It leaves the task of narrowing down the culprit to the player, but lets you ignore characters you have weeded out more easily! If I end up updating the game in the future I will look into this, thanks!
really neat idea! imo yeah, with more variety, extra tasks, more floor layouts, etc etc it would make a cool "full" game
though i'm still not able to switch the vantage point, so it causes problems when the person i'm looking for is in the side room :( (this is in the webgl build, i haven't tried the downloadibles tbh)
Thank you! I focused on making the level I had more replayable but as you probably noted right away, the floors look identical except for the character positioning.
The vantage point bug turned out to be a lot of trouble, I made several attempts at a fix but on my system it was not as easy to reproduce so I'm wondering if it's browser-related? Oh well!
Pretty cool idea, I imagine it doing well as one of those mobile assassin games if you were to add more levels and stuff. It also kind of reminded me of that one level in GTA V where you are in a helicopter and a similar thing is happening with hostages. It appeared that the 1234 buttons to move views didn't work but that could just be me. Overall pretty good game for a short game jam.

Actually fun and complete, well done. Mouse senivity is kinda meh, but game is still very fun

“First clue: the criminal is wearing a scarf.” “Got it, shoot the first guy I see with a scarf.” “Mission failed!”

Thank you! The helicopter navigation was a bit buggy in even the latest build unfortunately, sorry about that!
