Posting things about how the jam goes for me
Devblog, day 1. The theme was announced today. I thought about it and made a functional map of the house from three maps, formalizing the idea with a house and dialogues.
At the same time, I learnt how to use local event switches and began to study the possibilities of events for character movement trajectories. So far it doesn't work correctly, but I know what I’ll practice on tomorrow.
I found out that without scripts in RPGM XR, team cannot walk as a caterpillar, this became available only in the MV version. In XP version I still can do it, but only by using a script in the script editor. I found several options, perhaps I will study their use only if I decide to introduce such a narrative element into the game.
The map I made today:
I think I got a little carried away when I started the map x) The idea about it was just too unformed, I shouldn't just go and decorate everything without goal and structure. Tomorrow I plan to work with the script and the idea more closely and NOT decorate or program anything except as for training.
Devlog day 2
I tried another idea, which was formes when I started practicing with RPGM after I heard about the jam. I'm going to make a linear quest.
It's difficult to focus on one idea for me, I want to do something more again and again. For example, I imagines an absurd quest where you make a breakfast, but the products and the dishes from them are randomized, and you should learn the mirrored logic of the world or just enjoy the things going on. It soinds very fun to me, but it's just an another idea, and I should take only one to do something nice.
