The text is extremely slow. I would've loved an extra click to make the text appear all at once so I could read it at my own speed. I really like the graphics and the beginning of the story though! Great job so far!

Developer

Thanks for trying the game! Yeah, definitely didn't realize how awful the slow text would be. Really wanted to get the voice over in so hopefully in the next one, I'll be able to fine-tune that a bit to make it less annoying for people.

Even considering it's mostly premade assets, you've created a lot of very detailed scenes in a very short amount of time, especially for a solo game. It's nice-looking and it looks very holistic between the different scenes and the map, which is a hard thing to do with premade assets, so well done there!

The main thing I would ask for is just to speed it up a little--the text prints pretty slowly and there's no way to skip, and a lot of the dialogue felt wordier than it needed to be (especially greetings and farewells).

Developer

Appreciate you trying the game. Thank you for the kind words but I must confess most rooms were using pre-built demo scenes that I adapted to fit. I was focusing more on story and fighting bugs for this project and I haven't developed many level design skills yet. I apologize for the text speed issue. I wanted to add spoken dialogue and the file size issue came out of nowhere and took up my final day before vacation. Will definitely be looking into adding the skip option in the future.

Beautiful visuals. Gameplay I found a bit slow, probably due to the text appearing one letter at a time and no option to speed it up (by clicking or something).

I  couldn't finish the game because the tavernkeeper didn't have an option to ask for the meat needed to finish the blacksmith's task. Maybe I did the tasks in the wrong order, but that shouldn't matter.

There's an option in the preferences to set the speech volume, but there was no speech at all.

Developer

Thanks for trying the game. I had planned on adding speech but when I went to make a build, the size was too big. Ended up trading the dialogue time with trying to optimize/delete everything I could to make the file size smaller.

Not sure why the tavern keeper didn't have the meat. It should have been a dislogue option if you visited blacksmith first. (I stuck with the cliche of backtracking for that kind of thing.) Sorry it didn't work.
