Hey. I recorded a video about the Beginners Circle jam and included your game in it. If you want to cut your game out of the video, let me know. However, if you like the video, I make similar videos every day. I will be happy if you subscribe. Anyway, I enjoyed playing your game.
The animations were really good, and the dashes felt nice, specially in the air.
However I got to difficulty level 15 but I didn’t feel it got that much harder. If I quickly pressed the arrow to dash, those small dashes don’t let anyone really hit me. I had to stand still and let them get to me.
The difficulty is the representation of the maximum number of enemies that can be there at a time. But at higher levels this system is not balanced enough. The enemies should also appear more frequently, else there is no change to the effective difficulty, as you pointed out.
Also, the game is missing the boss fight I wanted to make :)!
Pretty good submission! It is clear you care for the details: good animation, varied enemies, power ups, increasing dificulty.
Attacking using the dash is satisfying.
Now, what could be improved:
1.It wasn't that easy to grab the power up at times (you have to be below it), but in the end I discovered you could dash in the air, so maybe that helps.
2.Allow player to use either WASD or arrow keys to move the character
1. Indeed you can dash in the air too, that was the main intended way of grabbing the power up :)
2. Yes indeed I could have added the possibility, and it wouldn't have cost too much time. I can do that. I also wanted to implement touch screen controls too, I'll try to do that today!
I worked alone on this game, I am happy that you like it :). I would have liked to do much more with the visuals... like a transformation of the player character to a "beast" gummy bear, and adding the Gumball Machine God (that you can see in the back) as a boss that you can fight.
Yeah, I already have an idea of what I want to achieve. Let's see if I have enough time to work on this project again, depending on the feedback I get. I may start another game jam this evening.
Thanks for your feedback. I am happy that you liked it!
I would have like to improve the way I use the combo meter, maybe allowing the player to use skills or something like that, instead of just enabling a powerup.

That was intense! I love the sprites and the sound effects. Really cool game!
I love the art of this game and its also pretty fun! Great job!
a bit hard to control at times, but i guess that was kind of the point.
the audio was so fantastically annoying, loved it :)
I got to difficulty level 18. This was fun. I like how you have the gumball machine in the background that is causing all this chaos.
Thanks for playing. I'm happy you enjoyed it! :)

It is really awesome! Whoever did the art and animations was amazing. I really enjoyed the dash mechanic.

That sounds great. It would be incredible to see a "beast" gummy bear XD.

Very fun! The art assets are very well done. I really like the combo meter as well, very nice!
