Does using dithering count as other colours?  For example, dithering from pink to yellow while creating the illusion of colour gradient?

The entire point of dithering is to use two colors in pixel art to create the illusion of another. I seriously doubt this would be against the rules, as long as you aren't dithering something microscopically.
