This game looks and sounds really neat, I wish I had the skill level necessary to play it instead of dying immediately after switching gears every time. (I can't tell how many colors were used to make the game either but that's the jam's fault for having extremely unclear rules.) I'm going to leave it unrated to avoid dragging the game rating down with my perplexity but it looks really cool!
thank you so much for your comment.
I think the alpha channels vs opacity thing is too confusing for the raters. I’ll probably avoid it altogether if i join another black and white jam
I was really impressed by the art, animation, and sound design. Great stuff!
The fact that the game's hazards are slopes and edges of various angles can make things difficult at times. It's not always clear what needs to be avoided and what can be walked on. More easily identifiable obstacles would have been really nice.
I wish the controls inverted when you were in the black zone. It was always my instinct to press down to jump when upside down.
Thanks a lot for the feedback, we're going to be making some updates to this game over time and these suggestions really us out.
Since there isn't a downloadable version on the itch.io page as of now, I'm assuming the browser version is the correct one. It's a gorgeous looking game, and the sound design is really wonderful, but I'm not really able to get past a couple years. For me at least, it's difficult to tell when a piece of geometry is going to be steep enough to cause a reset, and some peaks and valleys feel almost impassable without really precise inputs. It's likely just a me issue on some of these things, but altogether it's a really atmospheric piece of art
Edit: After some repeat tries, I realized you could double jump, which helps a little bit as well
To be fair, as the artist, It also took me a really long time to realise that you can double jump XD - maybe we'll add it to the description
Absolutely beautiful art, music and atmosphere. The gameplay was also pretty unique and interesting
