Nice submission. Don't see anything wrong with the controls. It gets real easy when you save money and buy those huge laser-waving walls. But for such a small game it's enough I think.
Please rate my game if you have the time :) https://daromaru.itch.io/solar-crew
Good game had a bit of fun but didnt know how to play before watching the youtube video, The sound effect for shoot got really annoying very fast and made me mute it when i was firing a lot of cannons at the same time. Some background music would have been nice.
But very good for one week good job :)
Just played the game and it's not bad at all. For some critiques I would highly recommend some background music. It doesn't have to be great, but anything to break the silence would be better than nothing. If you have the time in your next game I would even recommend putting sound effects on everything you can (buttons being pressed, gems collected, ect) they really make the game feel more alive and are overlooked my many people. Other than that, I see other people have already commented saying the controls were strange with the turret selection so I wont say much on that, but make sure you get people who don't work on your game to play test before releasing it to get feedback on controls.
Nicely done. My only big complaint is that I had no idea when or why the laser defenses were turning off.
Thanks! The laser turrets turn on after they charge up, the problem is there's no animation for the player to visualize when it's charging hehe
I like the concept of the game, that you are building stationary defense, but also got to control some of your towers. When I understood the mechanics the I was able to build a really strong defense :D
A small popup over the icons of the towers would be nice, so one can see how much it costs :)
Wow that is a really nice defense. Glad you like our game! We wanted to make a more intuitive UI but unfortunately we runned out of time.
Thanks a lot for your feedback and if we continue developing this game we will make a better ui! :D
This game seems to have been posted twice. The other submission has broken links.
Once I found it, loved this game. Really fun but it is something I have seen before. Like the style. Well done.
I'd appreciate it if you would take 2 minutes to rate my entry also :)
Thank you very much for your feedback. We'll gladly take a look at your project
Nice game, quite fun!
I agree that it takes some time to adjust to the controls and to figure out what to do, I think overall it can be a bit more user-friendly, as in instructions or turret pricing and what not.
Besides that it was pretty fun and challenging though, good job!
Thank you very much!
hey nice game even I took 3 games to understand how it works but cool :P ! i like the graphics and sound but just the control are a bit strange and selecting one by one the turret to shoot is a bit annoying i think it'd have been better to make them shoot all together I made a game very similar for the jam if you want to test and rate :) https://itch.io/jam/blackthornprodgamejam2/rate/378986
Thanks for the reply! Yep, the controls aren't as intuitive as they should be, and the turrets should all just shoot at once.
The visuals are pretty solid. Although the controls are a bit difficult for the first time, but after I figured it out, the game itself was enjoyable. I would only change one thing, I would make all the basic turrets shoot at the same time when pressing the fire button. It's finicky selecting turrets all the time. Other than this, I really liked your game, nice work!
Although we had it like that in the middle of the dev, now that I think about it, it'd indeed make more sense to just have them all follow the cursor. Thanks for the insights!
