I thought the game mechanics were actually really cool--diving under the level was fun but it didn't really seem to serve a purpose and so I don't think it fit the theme super well, but otherwise this was fun. I didn't manage to destroy any other ships so maybe some heath indicators would be good?

Good point on the health indicators. I made the enemies produce more smoke based on how much damage they took, but agree this isn't clear and health bar would be more useful. The aim of game is to destroy the vents in the ocean floor, not the ships that shoot at you, and they can only be reached by flying to top of level to gain momentum - seems like I didn't explain this properly in the game 😓

Oh that's really cool! with so many ships shooting at you, not having a clear directive was difficulty to do anything but shoot back.

That's great feedback thanks, will make a note. Sounds like the balancing is off and the combat gets in the way of the diving.
