I am so overwhelmed.

I only have 4-5 days left to finish this and I have to do all this art which takes so long and my motivation is non-existent but I also don't wanna scrap the game. What can I do?? I've decided I think I might scrap this idea and try something else that could work with a different art style which takes less time to make assets with ^_^ While I hold the original idea of a visual novel set in 1968 of a girl who becomes disillusioned with her home town and seeks peace in a dreamland so dear, I just can't finish something like that in such a short amount of time.

Pace yourself, but focus on mechanics first, then building something simple, yet aesthetically pleasing. Relax and work on something you would want to play.

that's the problem. There aren't any mechanics I need to add. this game is just a simple visual novel game so there aren't any real mechanics other than pressing space bar to go through bits of dialogue and the occasional choices, so much of what I have to do is art, which takes a lot of time.

Maybe you can take art from the assets and do the important sprites yourself :)

I can't do that.

Motivation does not lead to Action.

Action leads to Motivation!

If you do hard work and make something happen. It will encourage you to do more!

I guess that makes sense, but I dunno. When I do the art, I just lose that spark to work on the game instantly. Doing the art for this game makes me want to quit, especially now that I'm working on the second dialogue scene.

Try lowering the scope of your game, and, if you make your resolution smaller it makes thigs easier to make

I tried that multiple times, didn't help. I've scrapped the game now and I'm making music for someone else's game.
