Hello everyone , this is yashwanth. Iam final year CS student. I live in vijayawada, India. Recently i have published the 2 puzzle games  on playstore here is the link https://play.google.com/store/apps/developer?id=beginners+tutorials&hl=en. Why i have participated this Because i have some knowledge on game engines. one thing i liked is we can use any game engines. Give some tips for this jam.Thank you.

I think, the two major tips are:

  • Manage your time. You can stuck on one thing for many hours and forget about whole game.
  • Think realistic, think about game ideas and mechanics that you can implement in this short time. You can't do super realistic AAA game in two days, maybe you need to concentrate on something more abstract/simple?

It's one week but thinking realistic is still a good piece of advice.

Thank you bro for your tips

I found from my last jam that you should make sure to properly explain your mechanics with a good tutorial.

Thanks, this helped me too.

Most important is to stay motivated. Stay with the theme and don't decide what to do before you get the theme.

All the best for your jam

Remember to test your uploads (make sure they can be downloaded and played on all systems you're building for) BEFORE the time limit is up.

This is what screwed up my GMTK jam submission this year. It was only my second jam, and I don't have a Mac to test on, so I didn't know the file was incorrect. Plus my windows upload was the 64-bit version, which someone couldn't play.

And because GMTK doesn't allow for updates/fixes after the time limit, I had to just delete both versions of my game, and the game page, effectively killing my entry (and my spirit).

I'm still kind of butthurt about it, but I really only have myself to blame.

OP let us team up, if you use godot. I am also Indian, we can be synergic.

Pick a small idea.
If you need to take a day or two to come up with the concept it's ok. But you need to pick something that's really small and manageable. Don't get too ambitious and pick something you think you could finish within 48 hours. If you pick something small then you can focus on polishing it and you have a lot more time to react and change things as the project goes along.
