I am new to game making and this is my first ever game jam, any suggestions how i can brainstorm ideas better?

I personaly would start with definition of the central word in the theam. I know it sounds stupid but knowing all interpretations of the word can help with having a bigger range of posible games you can make. 

Usually I will take the theme and google the meaning of it, to get a clearer picture. From there I will choose how I will use it in a game.

You can make games that are related to the themes, but your code must be written by yourself. pick a game engine like Unity, then watch tutorials to make your brain good, then watch brackeys videos about coding so you can learn how to code.
