Most people don't like the theme. So, yes. It affects the score.
The is one of the 6 rating category, so yes it will affect the score.
However a good game idea with a weak connection to the theme will usually perform waaayyyy better than a bad idea with a strong connection.
an atari breakout game where you need to make your ball not hit fake blocks other wise a bad event will happen like you lose or your score gets subtracted
