This Game reminds me of Cell Stage in Spore, Solid 9/10!
Also I've noticed that there are assets for a Shark in the source code (standalone download), but I was unable to encounter it, is it possible to play as one?
Yes, it is, at each stage, you have to survive 30 seconds without the ambient getting too dark, if it gets too dark, those 30 seconds reset. The game wasn't meant to be hard, maybe you were just unlucky with random spawns but glad you liked the game! :D
Theme on point but it lags a little content i guess :D The base idea is great
Isn't the whole point of jam games to be short and sweet so you can play as many of them as possible :*)

I felt like I'm evolving into a predator instead when I eat enough of preys, instead of say, being killed by an enemy and playing as it, when I read the description saying you play as the one that killed you.
Other than that, the sprites of the characters are nice!

actually this is my first game jam too ;)
I was wondering why the game files are so massive, but once I downloaded it I realized why. You actually shouldn't be submitting or uploading your project files, but instead build the game within Unity, and upload the build. Otherwise we'll need to download Unity with the version you're working the game on, and there might be errors, and probably a lot of people will end up not trying, because it takes a lot of time to do.

Unfortunately, I haven't tried it. Your Unity version is 2021.2, but my installed one is 2022.2. I could download the 2021.2 version, but my disk is running out of space. Perhaps you can build your game, host the files (maybe Google Drive?) or maybe create a new itch.io page and put the built game in perhaps? I'd give it a try, your game seems interesting based on the screenshots and descriptions.
