I got an exception using the installer "System.IO.IOException: An attempt was made to move the file pointer before the beginning of the file."

The pacing was very slow (with nothing along the way to provide entertainment or nothing to make the goals obvious). I found an axe, with no idea how to use it. I placed all my lights on accident and was unable to pick them up. Light color toggling didn't seem to work and didn't provide any feedback when I pressed keys. I think with some more work you would be onto something fun :). I also agree with not having an installer. It's just an extra step I have to take to get the game running.

Thank you very much for your opinion, I am currently working on making a 3D version (without a time limit) so it will be much more polished, in depth and detailed.

The installer doesn't work for me. Also, don't do an installer. Just a ZIP with the unity build files.

Developer

Okay, will keep in mind for next time. Although what isn’t working with the installer? Is it spitting out an error? If so could you please send it to me.

How did you make this game? Which engine did you use?

Developer (1 edit)

I used Unity 2017.3.1f1 for the game, and C# (Windows Forms) in Visual Studio for the installer.

With itch.io you can ZIP the build directory and upload it so you don't need an installer. They even provide analytics so you can see how many downloads you gotten and some basic management so you can upload new versions without disrupting those analytics. I recommend making it easy for people to download and play in future :)
