Make a Spotify playlist! Sticky

Playlist aren't mandatory when making a game, though they are extremely efficient at setting the mood for the players and even yourself as you write your game.

So, the challenge of the day is to make a Spotify playlist for your game! Don't worry, it's actually pretty easy 馃挭

Here's how you can do this:

  1. Create a new empty Spotify playlist.
  2. Add 3-5 songs in it that you think fit the mood/theme of your game. Video game and movie soundtracks are a great starting point.
  3. Spotify will afterwards recommend you songs that it think fits the songs you added so far.
  4. Listen/add based on recommendations until you have a 45 m+ playlist
  5. Name your playlist and mark it as a public playlist.
  6. Add your game cover as the playlist's photo.
  7. Share with the world.

Fun fact, playlist can also be embedded in itch.io pages! Do to so, click on the falafel menu on your playlist's page > Share > Embed Playlist.

Here's an example of a playlist I made for Nomadic.

Now, it's your turn to share your own playlists in this thread! 馃幍

Might go back and do ones for Terminal Blackout and The Empire Wants You, if anyone's interested.

I didn't start from soundtracks for this, instead working from a mood playlist that I used for a character in a military-sci fi game and expanding from there.

Every playlist I make for public consumption is meant to be listened to in the order I've got it, for the correct *~effect~*

I went with a Dark Folk / Dark Americana sound for this, and picked songs with ocean / water themes, shipwrecks,  or holes / being buried.
