this game hooked me immediately. playing therapist is real and I've been in that situation many times. I managed to reach 10 pretty quickly, but it's definitely a challenge to pick the right answer every time. loving the lo-fi soundtrack and the character design, too.

at some point i scrolled or something and the perspective shifted to this lmao, I cannot figure out what I did.

Developer

Thanks for writing! I don't know if the game is realistic, but I would guess not since I am not trained as a therapist. The replies are ripped from motivational and therapy AI's (yes, those really exists). I tried to pick a few different mental issues such as low self-esteem and burn-out that would not be too hard to identify.

About the strange perspective you got, just click and drag the mouse to move the camera. You can even move the robot with WASD and B.

We got to ten but it was tough - I was surprised that I kept seeing occasional new dialogue til the end! Simple, but unique concept and the robot was cute/sympathetic. I actually quite liked the music.

Developer

Thanks for playing our game! I know it is hard to reach ten, so well done. Sorry about the confusing new dialogue at the end. I will remove that.

Not at all confusing - I was just pleasantly surprised at how many new dialogue I kept seeing throughout my playthrough. Thought I had seen it all and some new bit would come up - you wrote a lot for this!

Developer

Well, I spent a long time writing, so happy you noticed!

Feels like I am talking to Marvin the Paranoid Android - no matter how comforting the options were that I picked, this galaxy-brained robot’s gargantuan depression could not be resolved. Oh well - I never was meant to be a therapist anyway :-) An interesting idea, but I wasn’t completely sure how to play this, as even fitting options sometimes had negative results, and sometimes no option really felt fitting. One note about the GUI: It doesn’t resize with the screen size, making it quite small in fullscreen. Good entry, I enjoyed it 👍

Developer

I think that is a very good description. It certainly is a depressing robot. I agree that sometimes (or even most times) it is difficult to spot the right answer. Partly this is because some answers that are too ambiguous. The GUI works fine on my computer but I haven't tried it anywhere else. Probably the positioning should be done in relative numbers instead of absolute. Anyway, thanks for taking your time to comment and happy you enjoyed our little game despite the shortcomings.

A cute lil robot! Never made it to ten unfortunately,  and I wish I could have made it follow its dreams and quit their job instead though 😁 Would have loved for the background to be a bit more inspiring, as a suggestion for improvement. Overall a nice idea!

Developer(+1)

Yes, quitting the job might be the best option in this almost hopeless case. The background was supposed to be a cosy room with furnitures, but unfortunately there was no time for that. I will try to add this later. Thanks!
