Woop Woop Warpo!!

Ok, Im not going to delve on whats already been said, the parallel process kills your game completely and I also got the fatal crash  of .lastskill. fortunately, I got it on the second fight so I restart the game. Another thing is. If you restart the game and press the ok button fast enough, the picture of "Warp  enegma presents" will never go away. So I had to restart again.

I like the core mechanic of having a timer, that coupled with the music really felt pressing in a good way. I liked your dungeon design as well, giving some different paths to your player. I was able to beat the second boss but then , since i was super lagged I walked into some damn spikes and died =(.

So, I think this if polished, would be something real good. I good idea is to let some close friends play it before uploading the jam, that way you can get those pesky obvious bugs out of the way real quick.

Sadly the wait mech has not be able to stop the lag on anyother pc then myown, I was to polish it, but Right now I am not 100 sure how. I think I need to use VS commands from her core pack, to do it with the InEngine timer, but I have already spent more time on it then I would like, as I started work on a new game xD Woop Woop! But thanks alot for the Feedback VaroClaw ;) and Woop on!

Cool idea, Warp, but there were some standout issues that really soured my experience here:

  1. The constant lag on the map
  2. Lots of spelling/grammar errors
  3. Chaotic battle system

If these issues were remedied, I'd enjoy this game a lot more. I'm also a little mixed about the puzzles; while they were not incomprehensible I did have to make some educated guesses to figure out what you wanted me to do. It's fine to make the player think about what they need to do in order to solve the puzzle, but they shouldn't be asking themselves "how do I even get started," especially when on a deadline.

That said, I did enjoy the action sequencing and custom skills. It would have been better to dole those skills out as the characters level up instead of all at once, especially since the battles progress at a rapid pace, but I appreciate that you made them fit your game. Another thing about the battle system: making the basic "attack" command cost mana may be different, but it's not a good different - there are many opportunities for characters to become fully useless before they die and even some cases where a player can become soft locked (like I did). If you do something like this again, you need to account for the possibility that the character can run out of mana.

I may have a bit of an issue with the puzzle presentation, but the overall design of the maps was not a problem; I always knew where to go, barriers and hazards were clear, and enemies walk in predictable routes. It really evoked the feeling of a haunted, monster-infested dungeon.

One side note: It's possible to open the menu during the opening splash screens. You should probably disable menu access and reenable it when the game is fully started in a future update.

This concept of a timed dungeon crawl is neat; it just needs some refinement before it truly shines.

P.S.: Since characters that die stay dead in this game, why not add "permadeath" to the themes you used?

thanks for taking the time to write a long respons, lots of thing to look into  so a great help for sure! Also i made no changes to the standard attack so if that Costa mana i have no Idea how that happened. But the plan is to look into all the feedback given on the forum and what comes up later with driftwood. I did not do level progression with skill is techmecly the game is telling you not to do the map en encounters.  Also i was afreid of the grama. I strugel vit dysleksi and my second hand labguage so i wish i had some more time to run my writing through someone with a strong english. All in all the feed back from this is great and it adds to the learning experiance. Thanks for taking the time!

Woop woop warp! I did enjoy your game. Was getting into it, and liked the time limit and the feeling of having to balance exploration, battles, survival, etc. As many mentioned, the extreme lag while walking is not good. I'm almost certain its a parallel event, probably the one you use to track time that is checking waaaay too often. A tiny wait: 1 might be your fix. I feel like this is something that has to come out in play testing!

The extra bad news is a game crashing bug that occurred when I was fighting this witch and two swordsman mobs. SInce I couldn't save anywhere, I lost all progress, and I don't think I can go through the whole grind again. Writing could use a grammarly check.

All in all I was having fun with the skills and getting to know the character's abilities. Music was good. I really, really wanted to get to the end, but not happening this time.

Edit: Screenshot of bug if you're curious:

The game moves very slow on the map? Is that supposed to be a pun on Dungeon "Crawler"? The battle I fought was not bad, but a bit generic. Music was badass though.

Developer

Thanks for the Reply! Woop! Its not supose to move that slow, and I will looking to fixing it when the GameJam is over. I would deffinetly ise the always Dash.

Unfortunately your game  is pretty laggy. I like the concept of dying heroes and your themes fit in the game very well.

Developer

Thanks for the feed back. I think its the timer system running in the back. Though it always stoped after the first room for me =\

If you lose characters it's pretty harsh to keep up. I lost three partymember on the third boss and I couldn't handle normal creeps around that time. The FPS is the real problem, you should try to fix this asap. The FPS rate is, exept for the battle, 5-10.

Developer(+1)

Thanks alot for the feed back. I downloaded the Zip, from the Jam to see if it is differant. As you say the FPS is the bigest, and the versions I played on my pc before upload kinda sorted them self out. problem so far. The game is ment to be hard after all. Doubt I will be albe to fix the actual entery as the subition time has ended. But I am sure I can get some help to sort it out. Then hopefully I can post a version where the FPS are normal.  BUT most of all, thanks for takeing the time to notify me, I really aprisiate it! Woop!
