PostMortem devlog.... https://itch.io/jam/cgdc-speedgame-hardmode-2024/topic/3788720/for-to-embrace-de...
I tried to play it, but my screen popped up in an eternal spin. I couldn't figure out how to make it stop spinning and even trying to move while spinning wasn't working. reading what Matt wrote and your response, it looks like a really cool game. :/ sorry I couldn't get it to work on my end.
This sort of thing can happen with a Gamepad controller plugged in. Sometimes the 'Dead-zone' isn't configured correctly. I am sure the Character controller code I used had joystick features that I just completely ignored because I didn't have any plugged in myself. If instead you had no controller plugged in, potentially some other device is sending that signal. I'm really not sure what else that could be. Sorry about that experience... it would be nice to just build a game and have it work everywhere!!!
I started getting Little Kitty, Big City vibes when I started. :) It was fun to run around the city as a cat, and it wasn't until I was about to quit that I saw you could also control a person. I got them to meet and the cat to follow, but I wasn't sure where to go next. Was there a destination to reach?
Yes, there is a end..... once you get the man to follow (Green target) the end shows up on the map as a red target.
Oh... the limitations of deadlines.... I had in mind to have obstacles to overcome by switching characters (tab works, but no instructions to use it!) to get through the maze of a city. Things like small spaces to squeeze through for the cat and big objects to push around for the man.
Just not enough time to really make things happen! There is a whole untold storyline as well, but alas the emotional heartbreaking story is now only a mere hinting in the title.
Neat comparison to Little Kitty, Big City, I hadn't heard of that! I wouldn't be surprised if also compared to 'Stray' which admittedly was something of an inspiration.
